Web Banner Planning
Format/Size
I have chosen 500 x 144 to be the size of my banner because it fits quite nicely
in with the wireframe of my website and is easily visible. Also it isn’t too
large to contradict with the design of the website and at the same time it
isn’t too small so that it isn’t unnoticeable by the user.
I’m following the common sizes via this website http://designerstoolbox.com/designresources/banners/
The format which I’ll be using to save my web banner is swf.
(ShockWave Flash) as it’ll be easy to implement it onto my website.

Brainstorm
The banner which I’ll be creating will need to be related to
my game, as it will go on my website in order to advertise the game. Although,
some banners don’t have anything specifically related to what they advertise
therefore I got more options to choose from and it allows me to be more
creative.
What I could do is get my characters from my game and
animate them to look like they are shooting the Kaiju monster.
My game is also more or less revolving around the Japanese
themes as it has things such as the ‘Rising Sun’ flag and Japanese style font
to go with it.
My game heavily based/influenced by the Kaiju theme
therefore there should be a reference or something that suggests the game is
about massive-scale robots and such.
I could also look at the aspect of a destroyed city as it is
a major level design feature I put into my game.
Initial Ideas
1.
Destroyed city with smoke creating the title of
my game or the city on fire animating with the title of my game
2.
Logo of my game with moving parts such as cogs
or have the moving cogs as a background
3.
Explosion/blast and the title of the game
appearing
4.
Sun rising slowly and turning into the “Rising
Sun” flag with the title of the game appearing in front
·
Audio
Tools/Software
The software that I’ll be using to create the web banner for
my game will be Adobe After Effects.
I chose this program as I have a better understanding of how
it works and what effects I could work with to achieve the final composition.
The program is also designed for creation/editing of movie clips and making
basic animation, which is what I want to do.
After Effects has a variety of useful tools which allows me
to create some really interesting work.
The program uses layers therefore I can organize my work
more efficiently and can edit any part of the video in a tidy and quick manner.
·
Technical limitations
The technical limitations shouldn’t be an issue here as I
got a range of Adobe programs at my disposal to do my project, edit it and
polish it if needed.
